wire Rope Cores The main core of a wire rope is the center around which strands are laid. The core bears the pressure of the strands and gives support to the whole rope. There are three basic types of cores: + Fibre Core (F.C.) The common fiber used for wire rope cores is sisal, manila, jute, hemp or cotton. + Wire Strand Core (W.S.C.) Greater strength and rigidity is attained by the rope if the main core is made in a similar manner to strands. + Independent Wire Rope Core (I.W.R.C.) Strength and flexibility is given when a small wire is used at the main cor for the rope
